My most recent trip was to Romania and in particular, to Transylvania. This beautiful and undiscovered corner of Europe takes you back to a previous age with horses and carts in abundance, and farm workers in the small patchwork fields tossing hay with huge pitchforks. The fairy tale scenery includes forests of fir trees where wolves and bears roam and turreted castles which lend themselves to the infamous legend of Count Dracula. Known for it’s Saxon villages and fortified churches, I found Transylvania also offers delicious food and lethal plum brandy! |

The streets of Moscow were empty, with barely a soul to be seen. The unusual silence and the thick layer of snow not only enhanced the beauty of Moscow, but also gave it a dreamlike, almost eerie quality. This day was 'Men's Day' - the annual Russian holiday celebrated on 23rd February as a tribute of respect for all generations of Russian soldiers. These celebrations gave me the opportunity to explore Moscow feeling as though I had this beautiful city with its rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture, all to myself! |

Undoubtedly my most treasured memory from all my travels has been to the mysterious land of Egypt. Walking along the corridors and huge courtyards of the Philae Temple of Isis was awe-inspiring. I never expected such amazing grandeur, precision and colour. And seeing the pyramids soaring up to the skies lifted my own spirits and made me realise how small we really are. My visit left me with the strong feeling that this civilization was built by a very advanced people who understood and appreciated the laws of nature far more perhaps, than we do today! |

One of my favourite travelling experiences has been visiting Sri Lanka, a geographically diverse country with a rich cultural history dating back 2500 years. I was lucky enough to experience much of what Sri Lanka has to offer including the bustling and cultural city of Kandy, home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth; Nuwara Eliya or ‘Little England’ up in the mountains with breathtaking views of the valleys below; and the beautiful beach at Aragum Bay which is also one of the World’s top surf spots. Sri Lanka’s mouth watering cuisine draws influences from both India and Thailand and their coconut whisky, Arrack, is delicious but lethal! |
